Xiaomi has launched the Mi A3 in India. The smartphone comes featured with a triple-camera setup, a Super AMOLED display, and a massive battery.The Mi A3 competes directly with the likes of Redmi Note 7 Pro and the recently launched Realme 5 Pro.How do these smartphones fare against each other? The Mi A3 is the only smartphone amongst the three which gets a Super AMOLED display but misses out on Full HD+ resolution that the competitors feature. It also gets an in-display fingerprint scanner.

When it comes to processing, the Realme 5 Pro has a slight edge here with the use of a 10nm Snapdragon 712 SoC, which has proved to be a high-performance SoC for the price in our Z1Pro review. We would share our review of the Snapdragon 665 SoC in our upcoming review of the Realme 5.

In terms of RAM and storage options, the Realme 5 offers an 8GB + 128GB variant, compared to the other two smartphones that limit at 6GB + 128GB storage.

In terms of optics, the Mi A3 gets a triple camera setup with a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor. The Realme 5 Pro also gets the same primary sensor, but with a quad-camera setup. Fairly old in terms of launch cycle, the Redmi Note 7 Pro gets a dual-camera setup with a 48MP primary sensor.

For selfies, the Mi A3 gets a 32MP sensor, which is the largest sensor available currently for the front camera.

For the ones who love stock Android experience, the Mi A3 runs on Android 9.0 and is a part of Google’s Android One Program. It means that, apart from security patches,  Mi A3 would be amongst the first of devices to get Android Q when it is released.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro is still some time away from launch, but that has not stopped the rumour mill from churning out details about the upcoming device lineup extensively. The latest leak, pertaining to the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro, come from a source at Weibo, who has revealed the entire sheet of specifications, as well as purported prices of the two smartphones. While the authenticity of the data has not been verified yet, the information is in line with what has been largely expected from the Redmi Note 8 lineup.

According to the leak, the specifications of the Redmi Note 8 Pro include the newly introduced MediaTek Helio G90T gaming SoC clocked at 2.05GHz, RAM variants of 6GB and 8GB, and 128GB native storage on the performance front. The display will be 6.53 inches in size, with a wide aspect ratio screen bearing full HD+ resolution. The device will also feature basic IP52 dust and water resistance to add a level of protection from incidental damages. On the imaging front, the Redmi Note 8 Pro will reportedly come with a quad rear camera, featuring the Samsung Isocell GW1 64-megapixel sensor mated with an f/1.7 lens as the primary camera. The other three modules will reportedly include an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, a 2-megapixel macro camera and a 2-megapixel depth assisting camera. On the front, the smartphone will feature a 20-megapixel front camera.

The Redmi Note 8, meanwhile, is said to feature only 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage, and it is not yet clear if there will be other differences in terms of display size and camera modules. In terms of prices, the Redmi Note 8 is said to be priced at RMB 1,199 (~Rs 12,000), while the Redmi Note 8 Pro variants will cost RMB 1,799 (~Rs 18,000) for 6GB RAM and RMB 2,099 (~Rs 21,000) for 8GB RAM. With the Redmi Note 7 Pro also featuring similar pricing, it is possible that the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro will also come at such price points, about which more details should appear closer to launch.

Verdict
Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro is a mid-range segment device that comes with a flawless display. With the high-resolution camera and pop-up selfie lens, one can enjoy spotless photography. In terms of performance, it is equally good with the combination of internal hardware and software that is engineered to meet modern expectations. Plus the battery capacity is also sufficient to look after the daily requirement. It comes with a hybrid slot that might be the only issue for some consumers.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro flaunts a full view display that stands 6.39-inch tall. It bears a screen resolution of 1,080 x 2,340 pixels along with a sharp density of 403 PPI. The AMOLED display offers an immersive viewing experience.
In terms of optics, the smartphone has 64MP + 8MP + 5MP + 2MP rear camera that offers impressive photography experience. At the front, a 25MP lens clicks mesmerizing selfie pictures.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro is powered by a new MediaTek Helio G90T chipset that has been built to provide stable performance while gaming and multitasking. It also has an octa-core processor that clocks up to 2.05GHz. Further, there is Mali-G76 MP4 GPU that offers excellent graphics while a 6GB RAM handles smooth functioning.
For storage, it houses 128GB internal memory that can be further expanded up to 256GB with the help of a microSD card.
Battery and Connectivity
Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro packs a Li-ion battery having 4,500mAh capacity. It can provide an ample amount of power backup to let users stay charged all through the day. Further, it also has the Fast Charging technology that can refill the battery in a short duration.
As for the connectivity, it supports 4G VoLTE networks. It also has Wi-Fi 802.11, b/g/n, Mobile Hotspot, Bluetooth, GPS with A-GPS, Glonass, USB Type-C, etc.
